Psalms 116

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death.

1 aI love the Lord, because He bhears
My voice and my supplications.
2Because He has cinclined His ear to me,
Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.
3The dcords of death encompassed me
And the
Lit straits
terrors of
I.e. the nether world
Sheol
Lit found me
came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow.
4Then hI called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I beseech You,
Or deliver my soul
,
jsave my life!”

5 kGracious is the Lord, and lrighteous;
Yes, our God is mcompassionate.
6The Lord preserves nthe simple;
I was obrought low, and He saved me.
7Return to your prest, O my soul,
For the Lord has qdealt bountifully with you.
8For You have rrescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
My feet from stumbling.
9I shall walk before the Lord
In the
Lit lands
,
tland of the living.
10I ubelieved when I said,
“I am vgreatly afflicted.”
11I wsaid in my alarm,
xAll men are liars.”

12What shall I yrender to the Lord
For all His zbenefits
Lit upon
toward me?
13I shall lift up the abcup of salvation
And accall upon the name of the Lord.
14I shall adpay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be aein the presence of all His people.
15 afPrecious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His godly ones.
16O Lord,
Or because
surely I am ahYour servant,
I am Your servant, the aison of Your handmaid,
You have ajloosed my bonds.
17To You I shall offer aka sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And alcall upon the name of the Lord.
18I shall ampay my vows to the Lord,
Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
19In the ancourts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O aoJerusalem.
Or Hallelujah!
